Based in Manhattan, Matter is a gallery or showroom that offers a selection of North American and international design: Patricia Urquiola, the Bouroullec brothers or Zaha Hadid. Beautiful design, yes, but the New York address also presents itself as a platform for discussion around the discipline, animated by the actors of the profession but also by simple amateurs. Founded in 2003, Matter has also launched a publishing house through Matter Made. The goal? To improve the international perception of American design. During the last New York design week, the latest Made collection, named « MMXXII » was presented. On the program, pieces inspired by « ancient civilizations and science fiction films, traditional craft techniques » designed by renowned guests such as Ana Kraš or Faye Toogood, as well as Jamie Wolfond, designer new member of the Matter family. Founder Jamie Gray is also on hand.
A launch that coincided with the opening of a large loft space above their historic space, where all the designers in their catalog are gathered. The space on the street is now used as a gallery and named Matter Projects. The space will host the first-ever solo exhibition by sculptural artist Simone Bodmer-Turner.
