MASCULINITY AS SEEN BY PAINTER KRIS KNIGHT

Kris Knight’s paintings reveal fragments of life where time has stood still. The intimacy of the protagonist is finally revealed. With a glance, Knight invites the viewer to become part of a life that does not belong to him.

A 2003 graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, Canadian painter Kris Knight has rapidly forged an artistic identity that is sometimes romantic, sometimes realistic. His work has been shown in prestigious cultural venues ranging from the Royal Bank of Canada to the Parisian gallery Alain Gutharc.

Kris Knight’s universe combines calm and gentleness. His inspiration comes from looking at personal photographs of his past and present. Through his works in oil and pastel, the painter seeks above all to tell stories filled with melancholy. He doesn’t create paintings, he creates images.

And what about the male figure? The painter is interested in the stereotypes that society uses to represent queer men. In the vulnerability of his work, the painter seeks above all to evoke ambiguity.

Knight will be the subject of a solo exhibition in January 2024 at Spinello Projects, Miami.

An artist to keep an eye on.

The artist is represented in France by Galerie Alain Gutharc.

Knight fera l’objet d’une exposition personnelle en janvier 2024 à la Spinello Projects, à Miami.

Un artiste à suivre de très près.

Kris Knight est représenté en France par la Galerie Alain Gutharc.
