One is a master of chiaroscuro, the other mixes feminine and masculine fashion characteristics. Paul Klee said that the moon is the dream of the sun. The inspirations of these two prodigies seem to reflect each other, to answer each other.
Jonathan W. Anderson, founder of the eponymous brand in 2008 and artistic director of Loewe, highlights the world of the Dutch painter and engraver, Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. In this capsule, J.W. Anderson takes Rembrandt’s self-portrait from his etching and burin work “Self-portrait with haggard eyes” (1630), which he infuses on knits, sweaters, shirts, and pants.
