KELP COLLECTION, AN ODE TO THE OCEAN BY INTERESTING TIMES GANG

The Swedish design studio gives new life to fishing nets. Combined with wood fibers, an FSC-certified recycled by-product of the sawmill industry, this bio-composite material is transformed, thanks to the wonders of 3D printing, into stunning seating.

In addition to being virtuous, the Kelp Collection is full of poetry. Indeed, the undulating lines suggest the organic silhouette of the plants that cover the oceans, including Kelps.

This species of seaweed is the victim of unsustainable fishing practices and rising ocean temperatures.

Originally designed for chefs Niclas Jönsson and Daniel Höglander, who wanted custom-made furniture for their sushi restaurant in Stockholm, the chairs can be ground into bio-materials and reused to create new objects.
