Tega Akinola, the queen of upcycling streetwear

The Nigerian-British designeris one of those little miraclesborn during the lockdown, whose notoriety has increased tenfold on social media. While returning to her parents’ home during the pandemic, she finds a bag full of phone charger cables. Instead of throwing them away, she starts a fantastic series of upcycled objects, on which she applies the famous cables: shoes, hats, bags. Among her other masterpieces, her heels dressed with sports socks and her handbags decorated with Patagonia fleeces. Finally during the “Sneakers Unboxed” exhibition, held at the Design Museum in London, the young designer presented an astonishing pair of amazing heels made from a Nike sports bag .
