Just an hour’s flight east of Bali, Sumba hides a treasure trove… A French couple, who have fallen under the magnetic spell of this island at the end of the world, have just opened Cap Karoso, a chic and cosy hideaway with 47 rooms and 20 luxury villas on a vast estate between deserted beaches, paradise lagoons and lush forest.
Fabrice and Evguenia Ivara imagined and bring to life this place, infusing it with a delicate French touch, but above all – and this is what makes it so unique – involving the local communities. In fact, they waited for the shamans to approve the project before starting construction!
In addition to simply meeting the locals, Cap Karoso guests share a multitude of activities and precious moments with them: dyeing and weaving workshops, village visits, horseback riding, fishing trips…
Emotion and authenticity are at the heart of the concept, as much as design, art and sustainability.
