UCHI : WHEN JAPAN COMES TO LONDON

England – London

Nestled in a quiet area of Clapton, the rustic restaurant Uchi deserves to be added to the list of the best Japanese restaurants in London. And we explain why.

The decor, the lighting, and the cozy corners creating a romantic atmosphere make this an exceptional place, located in the heart of London’s capital. Perfect for a date, but not only!

Uchi Hackney’s menu is refreshing and varied. You can opt for grilled skewers as well as fried tempura, but the sushi remains the real jewel of the establishment. Choose the crab from the soft shell or the crispy tuna. Vegetarian and fish nigiri platters are also available, but so are salads, including fried tofu hijiki and creamy avocado with walnut vinaigrette.

Another interesting option? Here, the focus is on handmade noodles – ramen, udon, and soba – washed down with a cold Asahi beer from the counter.

Uchi may not have the typical opulence found in many of London’s finest restaurants, but that’s exactly what works in its favor. The serene Japanese setting, with its white curtains, soft wood and even slippers, doesn’t distract from the plates of sushi waiting for you, while ensuring a homey, comfortable atmosphere.
