Paris. 2019. Young Hugo Fournier, artistic director and 3D artist, launches his own studio. “I like to play with the frontier of realism and surrealism through my imagery and my films by telling small stories staged in dreamlike environments and distorting reality by reinterpreting it. My creative process is quite spontaneous: a concept comes to me and then I start to visualize the scene. By constructing it, my vision becomes clearer and I can focus on details, composition, and colors. My goal is always to remain the most faithful to this basic concept that I had imagined,” explains the young creative.

Deserts, oases of dreams, Hugo Fournier gets off the ground with his series “Cars.” The concept? Four-wheeled cars that break away from the frigidity of metal to embrace the softness of a sofa. For example, the legendary 1957 AC Cars features a buckle coating and soft padding.

Inspired by the work of contemporary artists such as Erwin Wurm and Alain Bublex, the artist proposes an artistic approach that offers a subtitle of a political reading of our time: “I chose the automobile as an object out of love for the fluid and organic lines that I like to work on and distort so as to create an irony that reflects our overconsumption society in an absurd way with a touch of humor.
