Shadows, lights, colors, to recompose space, to blur or rediscover those things we thought we already knew, to address a detail and imagine the place that surrounds it. Light is the language of photography, Marguerite Bornhauser writes dreamlike and subjective images, and conjugates color in the plural. Thus, her latest book, published in August 2021 by La Martinière, invites us to travel, in a place without clinging but not without physical and sensitive reality. The play of shadows brings the off-camera back to the center of the image. The saturation and icy brilliance give the images the density of a fauvist painting. The displacement is not geographical but fictional, but it is no less striking.
