MO DE MOVIMIENTO, AN ECO-RESPONSIBLE RESTAURANT IN THE HEART OF THE SPANISH CAPITAL

Any new construction or development worsens our carbon footprint. That’s why Mo de Movimiento wanted to offer an alternative in its design.

This Madrid-based restaurant found the ideal designer, Lucas Muñoz, to make this table a sustainable and environmentally friendly space. Former theater, the rubble from its demolition was reused in the construction of benches, while the wooden seats, inspired by the project “Autoprogettazione” by Enzo Mari, were made from wooden structures, also recovered on site.

As for the lighting fixtures, the designer, trained at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, recovered parking lot lamps and neon lights. These impressive terracotta jugs are in fact water-based air conditioning systems. A low-energy process, just like the ovens, whose heat is recovered to heat the water and the restaurant area in winter.

As for the façade, it is covered with black steel plates. Painted with water-based varnish, only the logo was covered, so that it will rust throughout the years.

This approach is also accompanied by the desire to highlight the work of the entire team, from builders to plumbers, electricians, designers, owners, consultants, and architects. This is the meaning of the textile and very abstract works conceived in collaboration with the designer Inés Sistiaga, which are the stories of the conception of this singular place.
