PATINA MALDIVES

A DESIGN REFUGE WITH IS FEET IN THE SAND

The string of artificial islands that make up the Fari archipelago in the North Malé atoll is home to the most luxurious new hotel projects in the Maldives. Among them, a resort composed of ninety villas with swimming pools, on the beach or on stilts, and twenty studios: Patina

Among them, a resort composed of ninety villas with swimming pools, on the beach or on stilts, and twenty studios: Patina Maldives. This member of Design Hotels was designed by Marcio Kogan, founder of Studio MK27, whose work includes the emblematic Fasano in Sao Paulo. The Brazilian star architect describes it as «a temporary house with delicate volumes, respectful of the environment, to capture and amplify the strength of the landscape. The lines never break the horizon, the building blends into the scenery, to put life and people at the center of the experience.” His other challenge: to harmoniously integrate works of art and furniture by Gervasoni, Dedon, Carlos Motta or Vitra into the spaces inside and outside.

Isolated from the world in the best sense of the word, guests are here to reconnect with nature and find personal balance, thanks in particular to a range of activities: yoga sessions, open-air cinema, water sports and, above all, moments of relaxation at the Flow spa. Designed as an «island within an island,» it offers treatments inspired by the Watsu method, which combines hydrotherapy and shiatsu.

There are also several catering options, an organic vegetable garden and, more generally, a truly ecofriendly approach. With this little jewel in the Maldives, the Capella hotel group is launching a new brand, Patina, which is both lifestyle and sophisticated, and which will then be extended to Asia, starting with Bali.
