JIL SANDER : BETWEEN MINIMALISM AND INNOVATION

Jil Sander, a European fashion icon, embodies classic elegance and refined luxury. Founded in 1968 by the eponymous designer, Jil Sander has left its mark on the fashion industry with a minimalist, functional aesthetic that has proved revolutionary. The brand’s DNA is based on the duality of sharp masculine ideas fused with feminine lightness and emotion

From the outset, the aim was clear: to dress independent women all over the world with designs ranging from suits and blazers to fragrances, eyewear and accessories, offering a complete panoply for the active woman.

The German designer has consistently advocated simplicity and comfort. Her creations redefined the wardrobe of the modern, emancipated woman, skilfully combining masculine elements with feminine touches. The designer was ahead of her time, which explains her late global success in the 1980s and 1990s.

Jil Sander changed ownership twice, until it was acquired by Japanese group Onward Holdings in 2008. And despite temporary departures of the designer, Jil Sander, the brand, continues to evolve under the direction of Lucie and Luke Meier, the new creative directors. With them, the collections represent a bold turn away from the traditional two-piece suit towards diverse silhouettes. The designers explore a new freedom of experimentation, breaking with the past while retaining the brand’s minimalist essence.

The brand, once synonymous with minimalism, opens up to a wider range of styles and shapes, marking a new era of creativity and innovation for Jil Sander. With a rich history and a constantly evolving vision, the brand continues to shape the future of fashion, combining timeless elegance with contemporary innovation.
