At the request of the founder of the takeaway sushi chain Ichi Station, the Spanish design studio Masquespacio delivered a futuristic and pop space in Milan. In order to develop a universe specific to the dining experience offered by the brand, its creator Yango Zhang had explored the imaginary of travel and the train station as an identity. An identity that Masquespacio wanted to evolve into something more conceptual, keeping its nature, but getting rid of the usual and too literary aesthetics. So, a journey? Yes, but a journey to the future, through light.
“With this more futuristic look, we had the opportunity to represent the innovative sushi that is presented on the menu full of flavors and colors of Ichi, developed by Yango, in collaboration with chef Haruo Ichikawa,” comments Masquespacio’s creative director, Ana Hernández.
In a decor with pink tones, similar to a real spaceship inspired by the 1990s, customers sit at lighted glass tables, comfortably seated on benches, enjoying a novel atmosphere.
A notable feature of this Milanese address is the ceiling of the second part of the restaurant, shaped like a half-sphere, which gives the impression of entering a tunnel, straight into the future, through which foodies can watch a live performance by the sushi chefs of Ichi Station.
