IN PARIS, TO LOVE, TO PARTY, ZOOM IN ON THE MISTINGUETT RESTAURANT

Nestled on the rue de Clichy, the Casino de Paris, temple of music-hall and festivities for over 140 years, has celebrated the opening of the Mistinguett restaurant, a table in homage to its revue leader. The Miss, as she was called, triumphed in her early days alongside Maurice Chevalier, in a Paris trembling under bombs.

The legendary venue was taken over by a team of passionate entrepreneurs. Malou, alias Magali Faure, from Marseilles, arrived in Paris in 2011. She was 23 years old and joined her father, the owner of the Casino de Paris. With her cousin Benjamin Demay, they launched Varion Productions, a company that produces new comedians, such as Maxime Gasteuil, Redouane Bougheraba, and Jérôme Niel. They managed to convince the Lagardère Group to dedicate the mezzanine to them to set up a restaurant. And so the adventure begins.

On the menu? Chef Etienne Daviau favors small producers and exceptional products. He proposes a generous and precise chic bistro cuisine, accompanied by a French service.

We start our tasting with the “œuf de la mer et mousse végétale,” a perfect egg cooked at 64°, wrapped in gold leaf and accompanied by white mushrooms and roasted chicken juice.

Then the great classics come along, with a choice of turbot or St Pierre fillet, a dish to share on the day, as well as a rib of beef or veal en croûte. We chose the filet of Saint Pierre cooked in a meunière with its raw green asparagus tagliatelle, masterfully cooked and powerful in the mouth.

For dessert, we hesitated for a long time between the three-cheese service or the Comme un fraisier. We decided to taste both. A real treat.

We accompanied our dinner with a cocktail, the Zizi Jeanmaire, made with gin and pear syrup.

In addition to these delicious dishes, we are immersed in a theatrical and hushed setting with 130 seats, redesigned by the duo of architects: Hugo Vince and Adèle Nourry, founders of Atelier Ha. This décor, with a Roaring Twenties feel, is nestled at the top of the staircase of the Paris casino and overlooks the Napoleon III hall. The architects were inspired by the black and white archives of the legendary restaurant Le Perroquet, with feathered glass chandeliers from Murano and custom-made furniture.

Our eyes and our palate are in for a treat! Try it now!
