POP ART STYLE: THE NEW COLORFUL BOOK BY ASSOULINE

«Don’t think about making art, just make it. Let others decide if it’s good or bad; if they love it or hate it. And, while they are deciding, keep creating more and more,» Andy Warhol once said.

Pop Art has radiated into our society since its inception and is still today a style that is widely used in all fields: design, music, fashion, and architecture. After this first wave, the movement has never really disappeared. Each successive generation of artists and designers has revived Pop Art while giving it a new direction. Even today, pop colors flock to Instagram and Tik Tok and intrude into our lives. Today’s social media is to pop artists what advertising and Hollywood were sixty years ago.

After the success of the «Travel» collection, the Assouline publishing house presents the «Style» collection, which highlights iconic art movements by revealing their impact on our contemporary culture.

“Pop Art Style» looks back at the 1960s and the Pop Art style by gathering images from different eras: from Eero Aarnio’s Bubble Chair to the Union Jack dress from the Swinging London years, including shots of the supermodel Twiggy.

The author, Julie Belcove, has been following the art world for 25 years and her work has been published in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Architectural Digest, and The New Yorker. Her book traces the exuberance of sixty years of Pop Art style.
