Discovering the beauty secrets of Japanese women

In Japan, beauty is a truly ceremonial ritual with codified practices that Japanese women have continued to cultivate and enrich over the centuries. Who amongst us has never dreamed of knowing the secrets of their fresh, immaculate complexion?

A beautiful exhibition will celebrate the simple yet sophisticated skincare rituals of the Japanese women of the Edo period (1603-1868) at the House of Japanese Culture.
This event will allow visitors to discover the evolution of hair and make-up of the women of the different social classes of the time and their rituals of searching for elegance. To this end, 150 prints and 60 objects were brought together: mirrors, combs, brushes, powder kegs, hairpins, wigs, and various ornaments. Between ancestral rituals and avant-garde techniques, the secrets of Japanese women’s beauty will no longer remain a mystery!
