EDITORIAL

After a bright summer marked by rebirth and a desire to change things, this September should see a real creative surge. Festivals, exhibitions, creations, discoveries: the long-awaited cultural events will once again take place for our greatest pleasure. The Acumen editorial team wanted to highlight all these players who will generate desire this fall 2021. The word "desire" also echoes "desirable development," the theme chosen by Maison&Objet for this 11th edition of Paris Design Week, a reflection on the world after has stimulated the creative process of this new generation of designers.

The artist certainly had a great deal of desire. Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude who dreamed of one day wrapping the Arc de Triomphe.  Their dream will come to life this year, one year after Christo's death, as a tribute to this extraordinary artistic couple.

We also decided to celebrate another extraordinary giant, Le Corbusier, and more specifically one of his iconic works, the Cité Radieuse. The architect designed this residence with the aim of providing well-being and comfort to the inhabitants of Marseille.

A real desire to change things is the crazy gamble taken by designer and researcher Bonnie Hvillum, head of the Natural Material Studio, who has completely rethought the art of tableware using waste from the kitchens of the famous Danish restaurant, Noma. Another bold venture, born from the collaboration between Mobalpa and Vincent Darré: the creation of a theatrical, masterful and unexpected kitchen, in the image of its creator. And for all those with the desire to escape a little longer during the Indian summer, discover our selection of must-see addresses such as that of the ONA team in Kaplankaya, a true paradise nestled on the Aegean coast in Turkey, or the Villa Nai 3.3 in Croatia, a hotel carved into the rock, invisible from the surroundings, impressive for its raw beauty.

Thank you to all our contributors who have brought to life this wonderful creative energy of this back-to-school season 2021.
