ABOUT
Our story
Galerie Joseph was born in the Marais district in 2008 from a simple conviction: places shape artworks as much as artworks shape places. The name is that of a father, Joseph, and it carries weight. What began on rue Froissart now encompasses 32 spaces across nearly 7,250 square meters, in the most historically rich neighborhood of Paris.
Five of these spaces are listed as historical monuments. We restored them, not to freeze them in time, but to give them a new purpose. Private mansions, workshops, paved courtyards, 17th-century timber frames: each project adheres to the same principle, that of precision. Repair rather than replace, reveal rather than conceal. This heritage discipline is the foundation of everything else.
Around 500 events a year unfold on this foundation: fashion shows, exhibitions, launches, collection presentations, and gatherings of contemporary art, design, and lifestyle. The most image-conscious brands choose the Marais for its rich history and refined character. We are its hosts and guardians.
Patronage naturally extends this logic. Supporting contemporary creation, opening our doors to projects that might otherwise find a home, and providing long-term support to artists and institutions. A heritage's value isn't solely determined by its physical structure; it's enhanced by what it houses.
In March 2020, we founded Acumen, our cultural magazine dedicated to design, photography, architecture, art, and fashion. Distributed notably on board Air France and published in four languages, Acumen is the editorial extension of a single intuition: that vision deserves to be written about as much as it is shown.
Restore, welcome, publish, support. Four actions, one single ambition: that the Marais remains a place where creation is made, and not just a backdrop where it is photographed.
Galerie Joseph, high-end event space rental in the Marais district of Paris
A network of more than thirty unique venues available for private hire in the heart of Paris: showrooms, pop-up stores, art galleries, event spaces, private mansions and heritage sites, several of which are protected as historical monuments.
Galerie Joseph, in brief
Founded in 2008 by Michael Timsit, Galerie Joseph is a major player in the rental of high-end event spaces in Paris , with more than thirty venues mainly located in the Marais.
The network represents approximately 7,250 m² of spaces with varied architectures: former workshops, contemporary galleries, private mansions, industrial spaces, glass roofs and historic buildings.
Several addresses are located in buildings benefiting from protection under the Historic Monuments scheme , by classification or registration.
Galerie Joseph hosts several hundred projects each year: fashion showrooms, pop-up stores, exhibitions, brand launches, collection presentations, professional events, conferences, dinners, filming and photo shoots.
The headquarters of Galerie Joseph is located at 116 rue de Turenne, 75003 Paris.
Galerie Joseph assists companies wishing to rent a showroom during Paris Fashion Week, organize a pop-up store in the Marais, privatize a gallery for an exhibition or reserve an unusual venue for a brand event.
Fashion houses, premium brands, designers, artists, event agencies, cultural institutions, photographers and companies regularly use the group's spaces.
Our vision
Since its creation, Galerie Joseph has developed an approach based on the encounter between Parisian architecture, contemporary creation and event planning.
The principle is simple: to preserve the identity of the places while allowing brands, artists, designers and companies to temporarily transform them according to their projects.
Private mansions, former workshops, industrial buildings, glass roofs, Parisian courtyards, exposed stone or antique parquet floors thus make up a particularly varied real estate portfolio.
This diversity allows it to accommodate everything from a Fashion Week scenography to a contemporary art exhibition, a ready-to-wear showroom, a product launch or a pop-up store.
Most of the spaces are intentionally simple and modular in order to give scenographers and brands a great deal of freedom.
Galerie Joseph develops its activity around four axes: architectural quality, event flexibility, project support and enhancement of Parisian heritage.
A major player in the events industry in the Marais district
Since 2008, Galerie Joseph has developed a particularly dense network of event spaces in the Marais.
This layout allows us to offer very different locations within a relatively small area: small street shops, bright galleries, private mansions, large industrial spaces or spaces exceeding 1,000 m².
The model is based in particular on the direct control of a large part of the real estate portfolio operated by Galerie Joseph, allowing for long-term investment in the premises and their maintenance.
Geographic concentration is also an advantage for events organized simultaneously in several spaces, particularly during Fashion Week, Paris Design Week or major Parisian art events.
Showroom in Paris: renting space in the Marais
Renting showroom space in Paris is one of Galerie Joseph's main activities.
The network offers more than thirty private spaces, ranging from approximately 25 m² to 1,200 m², suitable for fashion houses, ready-to-wear brands, designers, agencies and international companies.
The Marais is particularly sought after during Paris Fashion Week due to its concentration of boutiques, galleries, hotels, restaurants and cultural venues.
Galerie Joseph showrooms can host collection presentations, buyer meetings, press days, launches and professional events.
Each space can be adapted to the artistic direction of the project: minimalist environment, immersive scenography, custom-made furniture, presentation of a collection or event installation.
Booking a showroom during Paris Fashion Week usually requires several months' notice due to high demand.
Galerie Joseph assists brands in choosing the venue and in the technical and logistical preparation of their event.
Pop-up store in Paris: creating a temporary event
The pop-up store in Paris also represents an important part of Galerie Joseph's business.
Le Marais is one of the main Parisian districts for pop-up shops, collection launches and brand activations.
Its tourist, commercial and cultural activity makes it a particularly suitable environment for short-term operations.
The Galerie Joseph spaces notably include:
- collection launches;
- pop-up sales;
- private sales;
- product launches;
- immersive experiences;
- seasonal shops;
- press and influence operations;
- brand activations.
Rental periods can range from a few days to several weeks or several months depending on the projects.
The available space allows for the organization of both an intimate pop-up store of approximately 30 m² and an international activation spanning over 1,000 m².
Art gallery for rent for an exhibition
Renting art galleries in Paris is part of the history of Galerie Joseph.
The spaces regularly host exhibitions of contemporary art, photography, sculpture, design and immersive installations.
The architecture is particularly suited to the exhibition: light walls, open volumes, natural light, glass roofs, high ceilings and modular configurations.
The spaces host very different profiles: international galleries, independent artists, photographers, collectives, foundations, designers or brands wishing to combine artistic creation and product launch.
Several Galerie Joseph venues also participate in major artistic and cultural events organized in Paris.
Event space and unique venue in Paris
Galerie Joseph also offers event space rental in Paris for many professional, cultural or private formats.
The main uses include:
- fashion shows;
- presentations of collections;
- professional showrooms;
- product launches;
- press days;
- press conferences;
- cocktails;
- dinners;
- exhibitions;
- pop-up stores;
- brand activations;
- conferences;
- seminars;
- filming;
- photo shoots;
- exhibition openings;
- workshops;
- master classes.
Each space has its own architectural identity while remaining sufficiently modular to accommodate different artistic directions.
Areas protected as historical monuments
Architectural heritage plays an important role in the Galerie Joseph park.
Several spaces are located in buildings benefiting from protection under the Historic Monuments designation , either by classification or by registration.
It is important to distinguish between these two levels of protection: a building can be classified or registered as a historical monument , sometimes only for certain parts of the building.
Among the heritage addresses operated by Galerie Joseph are:
Place des Vosges
Galerie Joseph operates a space located in a building, parts of which are listed as historical monuments.
5/7 rue Bailly – area of the former Saint-Martin-des-Champs priory
The site is part of a historical heritage environment linked to the former priory of Saint-Martin-des-Champs.
5 rue Payenne
The space is located in a building that is protected as a historical monument by registration.
4-6 rue de Braque – Hôtel Le Lièvre de la Grange
This historic private mansion is listed as a historical monument.
79 rue du Temple – Hôtel de Montmor
This 17th-century mansion benefits from partial registration as a historical monument , notably concerning several protected architectural elements.
These protections apply to buildings or specific parts of buildings. Galerie Joseph therefore ensures that event use and installations are adapted to the heritage characteristics specific to each address.
Organizing an event in a historic building offers a particularly remarkable environment while requiring special attention to the preservation of its architecture.

Our CSR approach
At Galerie Joseph, we host exhibitions, events, brands and designers in the heart of Paris. Our CSR approach is based on a simple idea: to limit our impact, improve the comfort and safety of those who work in or pass through our spaces, and contribute positively to the cultural life of the neighborhood.
It is structured around four axes:
Environment, working conditions, ethically, and cultural and local roots.
1) Reduce our environmental impact
Energy consumption: 100% electric spaces
Our premises run entirely on electricity: no gas is used.
This allows us to better control consumption, limit direct emissions and more easily adapt settings according to the needs of events.
We are also working to optimize usage: lighting, heating/air conditioning, operating hours, and technical controls. Our teams and partners are regularly made aware of these best practices.
Waste: Recycle, reduce and reuse
Waste management is the responsibility of our residents: this is clearly stated in our agreements. We ask them to sort their waste (packaging, paper/cardboard, glass, residual waste) and we ensure that the necessary infrastructure is available.
We limit disposable printing and materials as much as possible, and encourage reuse: signage, structures, event furniture, scenography elements… all objects that can have several lives.
More responsible logistics
We encourage the grouping of deliveries and efficient planning of assembly and disassembly in order to avoid unnecessary journeys.
Where possible, we favour local service providers and less emissive transport solutions.
2) Social: safety, respect and quality of service
Health and safety at the heart of operations
Our protocols govern each step: assembly, disassembly, movement, handling, visitor flow management.
Prevention and coordination with service providers are essential to ensure safe and controlled operations.
Inclusion and respect
Discriminatory or violent behavior is not tolerated.
We are committed to providing a professional and respectful welcome to all: visitors, teams, artists, service providers or partners.
Respect for the neighborhood
We take care to reconcile event activity with the tranquility of the neighborhood: cleanliness, management of congestion, traffic, respect for schedules and noise pollution.
3) Ethics, compliance and responsible relationships
We strictly apply the legal and contractual obligations related to the operation of our spaces: security, insurance, occupancy rules.
Our business relationships are based on transparency: quotes, booking conditions, rules for using the premises.
We select our partners based on criteria of reliability, quality and compliance.
4) Cultural engagement & local roots
Partner of Paris Design Week
Galerie Joseph is an official partner of Paris Design Week – Maison & Objet +1.
We put our spaces at the service of the design scene and the new generation by opening our galleries to exhibitions accessible to the public.
Support for young talent
Each year, we make a gallery available free of charge at 116 rue de Turenne to host exhibitions of young designers as part of Paris Design Week Factory – Turenne.
A concrete way to support the emergence of new talents and to participate in the cultural dynamic of the Marais.
Our concrete commitments: to move forward, measure, improve
We favour a pragmatic approach: do, evaluate, improve.
Our current priorities:
Strengthen sorting and cleanliness during events.
Reduce the use of single-use consumables.
Continue to improve security procedures and technical coordination.
Further develop the reuse of scenography and signage elements
