Paris Design Week 2026: the major events to discover in the Marais

Salsola at Factory Galerie Joseph, 16 rue des Minimes

From September 10 to 19, Paris Design Week 2026 transforms the capital into a vast showcase of contemporary design. Exhibitions, monumental installations, collectible furniture, and emerging talents will take over galleries, museums, boutiques, and heritage sites. A long-standing partner of the event, Galerie Joseph is hosting part of Factory in two of its iconic Marais locations: 116 rue de Turenne and 16 rue des Minimes.

Held alongside the Maison&Objet trade fair, Paris Design Week has become one of the major events of the Parisian cultural season. For ten days, professionals and the general public alike can discover, free of charge, creations that blur the lines between furniture, craftsmanship, interior design, art, and innovation. The 2026 edition particularly emphasizes its international dimension while giving crucial visibility to a new generation of designers.

Factory 2026: The laboratory of new talents

A highlight of Paris Design Week 2026 , Factory serves as a true launching pad for emerging designers and young publishing houses. In 2025, this creative laboratory brought together 180 designers and publishers from 23 countries, attracting nearly 24,000 visitors. This year, more than 150 designers, studios, schools, and publishers are participating in the program presented from September 10 to 14 in four venues in the Marais district.

The 2026 selection is curated by ceramic designer Jean-Baptiste Durand and designer Simon Geringer, both former Factory participants. Their approach favors a cross-disciplinary reading of creation: furniture, lighting, objects, crafts, and materials research interact without being confined to traditional categories.

The exhibition begins at Espace Commines, where some forty works are brought together in a scenography inspired by a photographic studio. Each creation is presented as a sculptural piece, revealing its silhouette, material, and manufacturing process. Meanwhile, at 10 rue de Turenne, the Chinese Creative Pavilion is dedicated to the relationship between design, materials, and contemporary Chinese culinary culture.

Galerie Joseph in the heart of Paris Design Week Factory

A partner of Paris Design Week for over ten years, Galerie Joseph hosts an essential part of the Factory circuit in two of its spaces located in the heart of the Marais.

At 116 rue de Turenne , Factory showcases a new generation of international designers. With its 1,100 square meters, spectacular volumes, and two large glass roofs, this Galerie Joseph space brings together furniture, lighting, objects, and installations in an environment bathed in natural light. The architecture of the space offers young designers privileged visibility among the journalists, publishers, architects, decorators, and collectors present in Paris during September.

The journey continues at 16 rue des Minimes , another Galerie Joseph space. This 330 m² address brings together established designers and publishers around collections that showcase the diversity of materials and craftsmanship. The layout of the space fosters a more intimate relationship between the exhibited pieces, their creators, and the public.

The final allocation of these designers to the various venues is still to be confirmed by the organizers.

Design Week Lagos: The new generation of Nigerian design

At 116 rue de Turenne, in the Galerie Joseph space, Design Week Lagos presents a new generation of Nigerian designers as part of its Factory program. Athanasius Johnson, Adaora Enwonwu, Emma Emodi, Oluwakayinsade Ademuson, Joan Eric-Udorie, Myles Igwebuike, and Richard Aina unveil creations with a strong character, where furniture, materials, craftsmanship, and cultural identity engage in a dialogue with resolutely contemporary forms. This presentation is part of the international program All Roads Lead to Lagos , which aims to increase the visibility of African design and foster exchanges with galleries, institutions, manufacturers, and new international audiences.

By hosting Factory, Galerie Joseph continues its commitment to contemporary creation and emerging talents. Its galleries are not mere backdrops: they become places for encounters and networking between designers, publishers, influencers, and international professionals.

With over thirty locations in the 3rd and 4th arrondissements, Galerie Joseph also offers exhibition space rental solutions in Paris . Workshops under glass roofs, contemporary galleries, former industrial sites, and private mansions can host design exhibitions, immersive installations, collection launches, and professional presentations.

Oh my laine! : French wool reveals its modernity

At 84 rue de Turenne, in the Galerie Joseph space, Oh my laine! returns for its eighth edition with an exhibition dedicated to textile arts and natural French wools. This year, the exhibition design particularly highlights the creations and work of those who transform this age-old material. Tapestry, woven art, tufting, felting, rugs, and contemporary objects reveal wool that is by turns sculptural, graphic, and decorative. A materials library dedicated to French natural fibers and the expertise of the Aubusson ecosystem completes the experience. Sponsored by architect and interior designer Sébastien Caron, this edition demonstrates how artisanal tradition, contemporary creation, and innovation can now engage in a dialogue around the same material.

Joseph Walsh creates a dialogue between wood, bronze and gold

In the main courtyard and gardens of the Hôtel de Sully, Irish designer Joseph Walsh presents Arcanum Formæ , a monumental installation conceived in dialogue with the architecture and landscape. The exhibition marks the first public presentation in Europe of the Magnus series.

Among the works unveiled, Magnus Rinn combines a lower bronze section, preserving traces of the manufacturing process, with an upper structure made of oak. The wood is shaped using a three-dimensional free-form lamination process developed by Studio Joseph Walsh. A gold leaf finish captures the light while also helping to protect the artwork.

With its circular shape, the sculpture evokes natural cycles, the passage of time, and the relationship between humankind and its environment. On display from September 10 to October 25, 2026, the installation is free to access in the outdoor spaces of the Hôtel de Sully, at 62 rue Saint-Antoine.

The Grand Bouquet of Uchronia at the Grand Palais

Another major installation at Paris Design Week 2026 , Le Grand Bouquet , conceived by Julien Sebban and the Uchronia studio, occupies the Rotonde d'Antin at the Grand Palais. The work takes the form of a monumental flower whose luminous petals seem to emerge from the ground, extending the building's historic architecture.

The installation engages in a dialogue with the floral motif of the mosaic and the plant decorations of the arcades. Outside, an inflatable structure welcomes visitors to the forecourt, creating a symbolic passage between the real city and the colorful world of Uchronia.

Through this work, the Parisian studio presents joy as a force of resistance, unity, and wonder. After four years of renovation, the Grand Palais has thus rediscovered its vocation as a place open to collective artistic experiences. A selection of objects and furniture inspired by the world of Le Grand Bouquet is also available in the Design and Crafts shop.

The material before the name: furniture on the border of art

At Espace Meyer Zafra, 4 rue Malher, Galerie Philia and Espace Meyer Zafra present "Matter Before the Name" . The exhibition blurs the lines between furniture, sculpture, painting and ceramics by bringing together the creations of Kar, the ceramics of Louise Traon and the works of Manuel Mérida, Francisco Salazar and Anaïs Vindel.

With his Formless collection , Kar designs fiberglass pieces that retain their function while giving the impression of still being in a state of transformation. Their irregular volumes evoke rock, clay, or a material shaped by time. The furniture thus remains suspended between a utilitarian object and a sculpture.

Louise Traon's ceramics extend this exploration through glazed stoneware, raw clays, ash, granite, and chalk. The material is not merely used to produce the object; its reactions directly contribute to the emergence of forms and colors. From one work to the next, furniture becomes image, painting acquires volume, and ceramics preserve the memory of earth and fire. The exhibition opens on September 10, 2026.

Female Design Futures: Six International Designers

At CØR Studio, 28 rue du Petit-Musc, the exhibition Female Design Futures , organized by White Label Project, brings together six women designers and artists from Guatemala, Morocco, South Africa, Australia and Singapore.

The exhibition features Cálamo, Gozdava 1590, Lisa Lapointe, Studio Kallang, Studio Sana Benzaitar, and TheUrbanative. Furniture, textiles, ceramics, perfume, and contemporary objects demonstrate how traditional craftsmanship can be reinterpreted through new forms.

Founded in Johannesburg by Mpho Vackier, TheUrbanative designs furniture inspired by African stories, memories, and cultures. The studio combines contemporary forms, materials research, and the transmission of cultural heritage. Female Design Futures is presented from September 10 to 13, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 19 p.m.

Le Marais, an essential territory for contemporary design

The Paris Design Week 2026 program demonstrates how essential the Marais district remains to the vitality of Parisian design. The proximity of galleries, showrooms , workshops, and monuments allows visitors to move naturally between exhibitions.

At the heart of this journey, the presence of Factory at 116 rue de Turenne and 16 rue des Minimes underscores Galerie Joseph's role in welcoming and promoting emerging talent. These spaces offer designers a strong architectural setting, as well as an address recognized by French and international professionals.

From the monumental work of Joseph Walsh to the material experiments of Matter Before the Name , from the joyful universe of Uchronia to the cultural narratives presented by Female Design Futures , this edition offers a particularly broad overview. But it is undoubtedly within Factory, in the face of the research of emerging designers, that the new directions of design are most forcefully taking shape.
