Boldizar Senteski is a Hungarian artist and designer known for his striking sculptures, which explore the tension between past and future, between decadence and renewal. Heavily inspired by his hometown of Budapest, his artistic practice is a blend of Art Nouveau, post-Soviet Brutalism, as well as Baroque and Neoclassicism.

A unique blend, giving rise to a singular creative language. Dividing his time between New York and Budapest, the artist also navigates between traditional craftsmanship and industrial innovation, with experimentation as his ultimate goal. Also a master of lighting design, he becomes an alchemist, celebrating error, the unexpected, and the oxidation of matter.

With as its flagship piece Mirror PaintingsHe blurs the lines between pure art and functional design, and poetically explores human perception. “I am an observer and very sensitive to my surroundings. Much of my work tends to reference time. My mirrors are each handmade and unique, almost like paintings, in a way.” My work is often described as a mixture of brutalism and romantic elements. For example, the forms I use are simple, robust, and monolithic, but at the same time other details are fragile, ornamental, almost romantic. I think that contrast is at the heart of my work. The contrast has never been so poetic.
