LORE STESSEL, BETWEEN PINTURA AND FOTOGRAFÍA

Mixing the herramientas of photography with the gesture of painting, the work of the Belgian artist is both seductive and disconcerting. A magnificent discovery by the Gallery of the Daughters of Calvary, dedicated to its first individual exhibition in France with a magnificent series of photographs in this link, from its presentation with one of the dancers.

From the painting that I learned at the Escuela Luca de Bruselas, Lore Stessel has preserved the support -the link- and the gesture -a través del cual aplica (sober la tela) la emulsion de gelatina-plata que las images-. The rest (grab the images on film, reveal them and print them) is photography, a practice that learned at the Escuela Nacional Superior de Fotografía de Arles. The process method is a more effective and eloquent one when applied to a coreography: as if the fluidity of the gesture is applied to the emulsion that reveals the brush which will correspond to the color of the skin in motion, it will plasmat its beauty with the greatest possible precision.

There is a great passion and a great delicadeza, but also a great sincerity that emanates from these tomas in those figures, concentrated in more movements, no posen… All in tension, these are our hearts clamor for the truth. Una verdad que es a la vez muy de nuestro tiempo -los bailarines, vestidos con pants cortos y camisetas, son muy actuales – y a la vez atemporales -gracias al uso del blanco y negro.

Beauty rhymes with emotion, emotion is contained in every gesture, in every movement of hands, arms, legs or feet, in every movement or shock. Poetry of the gang This is the title of instantaneous variations of the series, which show some of the words that evoke love, lucha or hope…: “a beautiful multiplicity of sentiments”, in words of the artist, which is said in it Planche(s) Festival Contact from 2012 in Deauville, he was recognized as “young talent”: “The photos are metamorfosean. It is between the sueño and the reality, the light and the darkness, the movement and the quiet.”
