In 2016, Thomas Havet, then an architect, had the idea of founding Double Séjour, an art gallery housed in his apartment. It subsequently led him to organise multiple nomadic exhibitions and then to obtain a residency at POUSH for a year. This artistic journey culminated in the creation of the DS Galerie last March, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.

With the ambition of promoting the young artistic guard in France and internationally, the architect-curator constantly strives to elevate the five artists represented by his gallery. The first solo show by video artist and photographer Andrés Barón seems to be a tangible testimony to this dedication.

The Colombian artist has conceived this exhibition as an island. On the white walls hang a series of colour and black-and-white photographs taken within the cultural venue itself. In the centre, two televisions broadcast the films “Grammars” (2021) – imagined in collaboration with musician Dreamcrusher – and “Fresco” (2022). The cables take over the space like indomitable roots feeding off one another. In each of his works, the artist lets the objects speak in a strident, even brutal way.

On the occasion of the Paris Photo fair, Barón also presents the exhibition “Surfaces Dépliées”, which retraces his artistic work from 2018 to 2023. With the same thread as the one unveiled at the DS Galerie, the young man questions our perception of image, whether still or not.
