Augur, the first film of the Belgian rapper of Congolese origin Baloji, also part of a sight at home, the one of Koffi (Marc Zinga), which he regretted in his native Congo after spending many years in Belgium. All I knew was how she spoke to Alice (Lucie Debay), who hoped for a happy ending. In the Congo, Koffi quiere presents a woman to her family, but for a young man divided between cultures, the encounter is not easy and some people have the opportunity to include sex.
In Swahili, the number " Baloji » means “hechicero”. Therefore, the artist was destined to approach this theme and it was brilliantly, creating a very visual film where the codes of a traditional aesthetic violate the modernity of a country in transformation. With its dense and complex narrative and its multiple characters - many of their women -, Augur This is also a fascinating retrato of the current Congo, about the importance of tradition and family history and the economic necessity of a solitary exodus in the West. In this way, this is the first largometraje, which from a new vision of African cinema, received a History(ies) of Theatre 2, by Faustin Linyekula, presented at the Aviñón Festival 2019, which narrated the creation of the Zaire National Ballet.
