KOLOR, A COLORFUL AND UNSTRUCTURED SPIRIT

Kolor is a Japanese brand founded in 2004 by Junichi Abe. After studying at the Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, he worked at the “Comme des Garçons” design studio with Junya Watanabe, whom he helped launch his label. During this same period, he met his wife, Chitose Abe, founder of the Sacaï brand.

In this line, the Japanese designer will found, with three partners, the brand ppCM. But after ten years, he decided to embark on a more personal adventure by creating Kolor, a label of mixed ready-to-wear. A will to divert the inspirations of the sportswear style in a more contemporary version while adding sophistication with a twist.

Since its creation, Kolor has been offering a wardrobe for everyday wear that is light and fluid, with a unique style that features yokes and additions, offering the effect of a patchwork or puzzle, without neglecting the comfortable side. Junichi Abe imagines collections that respond to an emotion or the mood of the moment in order to create a balance.

Offbeat, colorful, innovative and creative could be the words that best describe Kolor’s universe. However, the omnipresent conventions of the Japanese brand remain the original finishes mixed with elegant cuts that offer a non-conformist style. The designer likes to associate different textures with different colors in order to sublimate an unequalled play of light. The colors are uniform or chosen with great care to bring a natural nuance, ranging from indigo to mustard yellow to bronze.

Pieces that are both structured and unstructured, where attention is constantly paid to detail.

Over the years, Kolor has established itself as a cutting-edge brand with an innovative impact that maintains a wearable but not garish approach and has found a place in niche stores like L’Eclaireur and Harrods.
