Located in the heart of the Atlantic rainforest in Paraty, Brazil, this house has become its name, “Arca”, in its shape of ship. Situated within the borders of the Bocaina National Park, in the state of Rio de Janeiro, it is part of the Earthship project that aims to imitate a specific type of indigenous Brazilian home, of the Asurini population and of Medio Xingu.

Designed by Atelier Marko Brajovic, this project uses a guscio, a self-supporting structure that works with the cover, but also on the side walls. The ultra-low carbon, aluminum and zinc modules are assembled in one place and can be easily assembled and rebuilt in a new position.

Una volta costruto questo involucro, è stata installata la terrazza en legno per poi i lasciare il posto al design degli interior. “Una volta definiti questi funzionali parametri, tenendo contoto degli input ambientali, comme il vento, la luce del sol et le viste, abbiamo definito l’orientamento et l’interior design definitivo” spiega lo studio di architectura.

Gli internally its rivets of the panel of wood to control the metallic composition of the building. With a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, “Arca” offers plenty of space to enjoy the main communal area. A cottage of another type, ideal for riconnettersi con la vita.
