Based in Paris, the young fashion designer Steven Passaro was born in France but has Portuguese heritage. At 19, he enrolled in an interior design course at the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré, where he developed a keen eye and a strong appreciation for construction. Today, his inspiration comes from his travels between London and Paris.
In 2013, Steven Passaro began working for Christian Dior as a visual merchandising designer for a year while learning sewing and pattern making. In 2016, he enrolled at the London College of Fashion (LCF), graduating with a master's degree in fashion design technology. Three years later, his work was presented at London Fashion Week Men's as part of LCFMA19. That same year, the young designer moved to Paris, where he founded his eponymous label.
Steven Passaro's universe is represented by elaborate designs. From pleats to draping, the garment's appearance creates a tailored style. Each season, he deepens his work around the concept of self-awareness, offering a new interpretation of the idea that the self is a collection of folds that close and open, conceal and reveal, while constantly evolving.
Inspired and fascinated by the representation of the body in both East and West, Steven Passaro researches and explores to highlight design techniques and elements that he combines, creating a harmony synthesized through his obsession with tailoring. In all his collections, traditional costume is always at the forefront, sublimated to be perpetually in motion.
Committed to respecting the environment, Steven Passaro pushes the boundaries of sustainable fashion by developing all of his creations using 3D digital prototyping in his Parisian workshop. This approach minimizes fabric waste associated with production. Thanks to this technique, the designer is able to create a single sample, sufficient to proceed directly to the production of the final garment.
The question of the time we take to embrace our true nature and strengthen our fragility is always at the center of the creator's concerns, as evoked by his creations which combine delicacy, know-how, sophistication and simplicity.
