DANA COJBUC

Open the shore

Residence for Young Talents / Festival Planches Contact

Dana Cojbuc was born in 1979 in Romania, graduated from the Beaux-Arts in Bucharest, and settled in Paris after living in Greece, Germany, Slovakia, Finland, and Norway. Associating sculpture, video, and drawing to her photographic work, she confuses our gaze, sometimes seeking the point of junction or separation of mediums…

Chosen with five other emerging photographic artists to produce a work as part of the Tremplin Jeunes Talents residency at the Planches Contact festival in Deauville, she envisaged the city as a “laboratory for artistic exploration” and conceived it as “an unknown space to deploy her gaze” to “Open the shore.” Populating the latter with her stagings (vegetal, animal, and human) interacting with the elements, she makes it the breeding ground of her dreams, the moving stage of micro-fictions, where the low sky flattening the horizon, beaten by the winds and the sands, seems to be a sounding board and opens the door to the world of tales and dreams…
