On September 23rd, fashion photographer Tim Walker arrived at the press conference of the Kunsthal Museum in Rotterdam accompanied by his mother. A presence that reveals how much his childhood inspired him and how he integrated this fairy-tale universe into his photographs.
He began his career at the age of 181 18, when he started working for the Condé Nast group library. It was then that he discovered the work of English photographer and costume designer Cecil Beaton, a discovery that sparked his love of photography. At the age of 25, the artist did his first shoot for Vogue and his career began.
He would soon go on to shoot for the British, Italian, and American editions of Vogue, as well as for W, i-D, AnOther Magazine, and LOVE Magazine.
Tim Walker’s fascinating exhibition «Wonderful Things» is an ode to creativity and his unique imagination. Tilda Swinton, Grace Jones, Grayson Perry, and many other muses transport us into a magical, surreal, and enchanted world.
This new exhibition is one of the largest ever organized and features over 150 new works inspired by the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London. The photographer has always wanted to deconstruct the diktats of fashion by breaking, as he explains, «the boundaries that society has created to celebrate different beauties and the wonderful diversity that humanity has brought us.”
An exhibition between enchantment and surrealism to discover absolutely..
