Within the limits of reality and fiction, the paintings of Romain Bernini emerge into a disrupted universe, both familiar and extraneous; a world surrounded by acidulous and faded colors, similar to a scenario of spectacle filled with brilliant lights, a species of llamativa tierra de nadie or Interzona, por utilizar el titulo de uno de sus cuadros. Aquí, vemos al hombre enfrentado a losanimales y a los fenómenos naturales, no como un domador o un depredador, sino como un “mere observer” -¿un observador solitario y circunspecto, o preocupado?
Them and us, ellos y nosotros, It is the elegible title of the artist for this exhibition and reflects the distance and proximity between the man and the animal that is depicted in extraneous encounters with cara a cara; the misma that maintains with our nostrils: it is a double sensation of familiarity and extraneousness that we experience to see on our frames.
