The Treehotel, the new ecological fantasy designed by the studio BIG

The Treehotel, nestled in Swedish Lapland, is known for its tree houses, which have different identities and react differently to the vagaries of the forest. Through a close collaboration with the Treehotel, and Swedish ornithologist Ulf Öhman, BIG’s eighth room will be covered with 350 nesting boxes. This new unit, suspended in the pines, called “Biosphere” has a purpose: to combat the dramatic decline in the bird population in Swedish woods, and to strengthen the biosphere and the natural habitat. Accessible via a suspension bridge, the 34 m2 room is dressed in organic materials, inspired by the surrounding landscape, and serves to reinforce the visitors’ gaze outwards and focus on the beauty of the environment. An intimate and immersive experience in nature.
