At the roots of design

Perpetuating the legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright is the goal of this collaboration between the Steelcase brand and the architect’s foundation, which has been in existence since 1939. Both wish to establish collections of beautiful furniture, textiles, and wall coverings from this prolific visionary. Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) not only ushered in an architectural, ecological, and sustainable trend at the dawn of the 20th century, but also contributed to the design of equitable work environments. The launch kicks off with an inspiring line of office furniture, titled “Racine,” available since June. The pieces are both reintroductions and reinterpretations of the furniture used in S.C. Johnson’s office building. This multinational chemical company, headquartered in Racine, Wisconsin, was one of the first to embrace open space. The line has been redesigned to meet today’s standards, while maintaining the vision of a master who was always ahead of his time.
