ALEX PRAGER, PARTITIONING THROUGH THE CROWD

Alex Prager's images leave you with a feeling of strangeness: when you are confronted with his crowds (Crowds), which stretch across the entire height of the wall, might lead one to believe, for a fleeting moment, that one is looking at candid photographs. But the figures' gaze is too fixed, the composition too sharp, and the vibrant colors complement each other too perfectly.

The photographer and director has indeed become a master of staging: her photographs are meticulously composed and create a sense of unease in the viewer. Drawing inspiration from both Hollywood and experimental films, pop culture, and the street photographyAlex Prager's works oscillate between reality and fiction, without us being able to know if we are in a dream, a memory or the memory of a dream.

His work is currently featured in "Still Present!", the Berlin Biennale 2022 curated by Kader Attia.
