Adam Parker, or classical art in a box

Until August 20th, the Californian gallery The Hole is hosting six new sculptures by the artist Adam Parker, in the exhibition “Crush”. Created using 3D modeling and the renowned Carrara marble, these one-meter by one-meter cubes evoke great figures of classical sculpture, such as the Apollo Belvedere, Cupid Triumphant, or even Bernini's David.

Classical figures have been compacted, like a garbage can in a compactor, as the artist César might have done. A tour de force made possible through the artist's collaboration with a team of master sculptors, as well as the digital research team at the Uffizi Gallery. These works, tinged with humor, question our relationship to authenticity in the art world.
