DOMINIQUE GONZALEZ-FOERSTER

Speculative space

After Cosmodrome, presented at the Consortium de Dijon in 2001, Chronotypes & Dioramas, shown at the Dia Art Foundation in New York in 2009, Pynchon Park (MAAT Lisbon, 2017), and Martian Dreams Ensemble (GFZK, Leipzig, 2018), Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster unveils at the Serpentine Galleries her latest phantasmagorical opus, more psychedelic and wacky than ever: Alienarium 5. Continuing her visual and fictional extrapolations on interstellar space and extraterrestrial life, the experimental artist (born in 1965 in Strasbourg) has conceived a spectacular, speculative space propelling us into a new narrative dimension. A “mutant place” and augmented, composed in particular of an immersive 360-degree collage annihilating the limits of space and time, entitled Metapanorama, intended to bring together humans and aliens. Via virtual reality, we will also be given the opportunity to live an alien incarnation, or even more if affinity, in a fertile atemporality… Welcome to the “between world”…
