OBSERVE THE WILD REINDEER

Located in Hjerkinn, Norway, the Wild Reindeer Lodge overlooks the mountains of Dovrefjell National Park. An emblematic place in Norwegian tales and myths, this mountain range is home to the last herds of wild reindeer and musk oxen in Europe. To observe these rare animals in peace, the collaborative architecture and landscape studio Snøhetta has created a construction full of contrasts. On the outside, a rigid rectangular shell of raw steel and glass is set against a barren landscape. But it conceals within it a soft, organic core that seems to have been eroded by natural forces.
