It's in the heart of the rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré that shoemaker Michel Vivien has chosen to present its shoes. To design his boutiqueTo design his boutique, he teamed up with architect Sophie Dries: the designer wanted to highlight his singular universe, where craftsmanship and noble materials are intertwined. The hundred-square-meter jewel hides a secret floor. The first floor features a three-and-a-half-meter-high corrugated walnut wall that runs through part of the boutique. Opposite, the shoes are displayed on a modular set of solid wood shelves hand-modelled by a cabinetmaker. The case and mirrors sparkle and are covered in gold leaf. The architect also collaborated with craftsmen such as Murano's master glassmakers. The glass paste sconces are set into the wall with brass rivets. The rugs, whose colors are inspired by a Michel Vivien painting, were custom-made in eucalyptus fiber with moiré patterns reminiscent of silk. Last but not least, the leather found on certain elements of the boutique is an invariable link between footwear and architecture.
