On the pebble beach of Sarpi, on the Black Sea, rises an undulating structure of a sparkling white. But what is hidden at the heart of the series of folds and knots that compose it? This futuristic building is in fact the observation tower of the border checkpoint between Georgia and Turkey. In contrast to uninspired administrative buildings, the Berlin-based architectural firm J Mayer H has designed the place to reflect the booming country it represents. The first impression visitors to Georgia get is that the Border Checkpoint should be full of energy and creativity. It was a winning bet!
