Loewe and Miyazaki: Animated capsule

The collection was released on the Loewe website on January 7 in honor of the late director Hayao Miyazaki. Their collaboration is inspired by his film Spirited Away (Chihiro’s Journey). Jonathan Anderson, Loewe’s creative director, describes the collection as “an ode to loyalty as well as friendship.” The designer features the main characters of the 2001 animated film, such as Chihiro Ogino, No-Face, Boh, and many others. Hoodies, shirts, and wallets are decorated with these animated characters. The sewing methods are based on Japanese techniques known as “boro.”  This consists in dyeing scraps of fabric with indigo and assembling them in patchwork to make an intarsia of Kasuri textiles. In addition, on November 8, 2021, the luxury house committed to sponsoring the Tokuma Memorial Cultural Foundation for Animation for three years. Loewe also supports the Ghibli Museum in Japan.
