Shang Xia: A shop resembling a bird's nest

The Japanese architect and writer Kengo Kuma, who notably received the distinction of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters in France, designed the boutique for the Chinese brand Shang Xia. The Hermès subsidiary is located in the 6th arrondissement.e district of Paris, designs luxury clothing, furniture and other objects decoration showcasing elegant and refined Chinese craftsmanship.

The artist's inspirations abound in the boutique on Rue de Sèvres. The space initially captivates with its transparency and clarity, characteristic of Japanese architecture; then, white, raw wood, and the interplay of immaculate light become predominant. Upon entering, the space resembles a bird's nest, where creations are delicately displayed. The wall coverings, meanwhile, evoke the Japanese art of kumihimo weaving.

Shang Xia's setting is thus a true haven of peace and harmony in the heart of Parisian frenzy.
