The Destroyers/Builders architectural tribute

In the work of Linde Freya Tangelder, who founded the Antwerp-based Destroyers/Builders studio in 2014, everything seems to suggest the charm of complementary opposites: contemporary and traditional, industrial and human. While the furniture pieces have a purely architectural feel, the handcrafted finishes give them an accessible and organic dimension. Having studied at the Campana brothers’ studio and the Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Belgian designer draws her inspiration from architectural elements, but also from materials and construction techniques. It’s hard to miss her sublime homage to the SESC Pompeia by the Italian-Brazilian brutalist architect Lina Bo Bardi, “windows of bo bardi”, three elegant side tables in lacquered wood, tulipwood and concrete.
