A tribute to the architecture of Destroyers

In the work of Linde Freya Tangelder, founder of the Antwerp-based studio Destroyers/Builders, established in 2014, everything seems to suggest the charm of complementary opposites: contemporary and traditional, industrial and human. While the furniture pieces have a purely architectural appearance, the hand-finished details lend them an accessible and organic dimension. Having trained at the Campana brothers' studio and the Design Academy Eindhoven, the Belgian designer draws inspiration from architectural elements, as well as from construction materials and techniques. It's hard to miss her sublime homage to the SESC Pompeia by the Italian-Brazilian Brutalist architect Lina Bo Bardi: “windows of bo bardi,” three elegant side tables in lacquered wood, tulipwood, and concrete.
