Selected for the Balzac Prize, relaunched this year to reward the most evocative photographic work of the Comedie humaine of our time, presented in their first solo museum exhibition, "The Plural Life of Identity," at the Städtische Galerie in Karlsruhe until February, as well as in Paris at the Galerie La Forest Divonne until December 23 with a new fictional series strangely blending science and dreamlike imagery, after having moved visitors to Paris Photo (at the same gallery's booth) with unsettling stagings of wandering and solitude, the duo Elsa & Johanna are riding high. What could be more contemporary, indeed, than their highly cinematic multiplications of identity exhibiting, Beyond the shadows (Beyond the Shadows) and the virtuoso simulacra, the fatal inanity of lies and banality.
