Tega Akinola, a Nigerian-British designer whose fame has skyrocketed on social media, is one of those artists who rose to prominence during lockdown. While visiting her parents' home during the pandemic, she discovered a large number of phone charger cables in a bag. Instead of throwing them away, she began a fantastic series of repurposed objects. upcycled on which she applies her signature cables: shoes, hats, bags. Among her other masterpieces are her high heels dressed in sports socks and her handbags adorned with Patagonia fleece. Finally, at the "Sneakers Unboxed" exhibition held at the Design Museum in London, the young designer presented a striking pair of heels made from a Nike sports bag. Ingenious, responsible, and highly desirable, Tega Akinola's designs resonate with a new wave of designers in tune with the challenges of tomorrow's fashion.
