It was during the fabulous era of Swinging London that David Bailey built his name. When Diana Vreeland spotted his talent and made him a loyal contributor to Vogue magazine his career exploded. Married to Catherine Deneuve in 1965, it was a year later that he produced this series “Flamingo,” revealing his penchant for birds (he lived with free-ranging parrots). He is one of those memorable fashion photographers, like Peter Lindberg, to whom we owe the highlighting of the top models of the 1990s In “Wild one,” shot in 1991, we find Cindy Crawford, Tatjana Patitz, Helena Christensen, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Karen Mulder, and Stéphanie Seymour in an empty street of Brooklyn. He revealed them without artifice, breaking with the style of the time. This shot stands out as one of the must-see works of the late photographer in 2019. Another famous print, a self-portrait of the artist Francesca Woodman, “Lucy with Goose,” shot in 1977, is representative of her art in which she used to stage herself. Her untimely death at the age of 23 has lead her works to great posthumous success.
