Incognito : Jewelry to counter surveillance technologies

With the development of increasingly sophisticated facial recognition systems, anonymity in public spaces may become a distant memory. To counteract this increasingly invasive technology, designers have invested in the world of jewelry. Polish designer Ewa Nowak has designed the “Incognito” mask. With several pieces of brass placed in very specific places, the characteristic elements of the human face are disrupted and become unreadable by the algorithms with which the cameras are equipped.

For this project, the designer relied on the one used by Facebook. If her approach is purely speculative, she wanted to design an aesthetic piece, and hopes that in the future, such a creation could easily be worn.
