THE WOODWARD

GENEVA GETS A MAKE OVER

On the shores of Lake Geneva, The Woodward, built in 1901 in a post- Haussmann style by French architect François Durel, has become the first hotel in Geneva to be entirely composed of suites.

The twenty-six suites were conceived as very high-standing apartments, in shades of beige enhanced by blue tones, as if to reflect the waters of the lake. Marble fireplaces and grandiose bookcases complete the décor of these cocoons of softness, some of which offer a view of the French Alps.

The architectural firm Pierre-Yves Rochon (behind the interior design of the George V in Paris and the Crayères in Reims) is responsible for the renovation of this listed building with its Belle Epoque architecture. In addition to offering a breathtaking panoramic view of Mont Blanc, the five-star hotel, the latest acquisition of the Oetker Collection group, features two gourmet restaurants – Le Jardinier and Atelier Joël Robuchon – a bar, several private lounges, as well as a luxurious Guerlain spa (1,200 square metersdedicated to well-being), and a high-end sports club.

Le Jardinier, multi-starred chef Alain Verzeroli has created a menu that focuses on plants, with dairy-free and gluten-free dishes. Another real asset of the establishment is its 21-meter-long pool, the longest in Geneva! It’s a safe bet that The Woodward will soon be at the top of the list of Swiss hotels.
