The 7th Athens Biennial opens its doors, and pays attention to the geographical diversity of the artists highlighted. Co-curated by Omsk Social Club and Larry Ossel-Mensah, under the direction of Poka-Yio, the exhibition scrutinizes the complexities of identity, history, and culture shaking today’s Western society, and stretches a thread between emerging creation, waiting to be discovered, such as Claude Eigan, Klara Hosnedlova, Ebony Patterson, and Paul Mpayi Sepuya, and some great figures, including Judy Chicago, Ana Mendieta, Zanele Muholi, and Steve McQueen. Together Together, the artists offer more than eighty different visions of the world from their particular location: America, the Caribbean, Africa or Europe, paths towards other ways of desiring the future: let’s listen!
