Transverse Orientation by Dimitris Papaioannou: a total work of art on a world tour

Dimitris Papaioannou returns to the stage with Transverse Orientation, a breathtakingly beautiful performance. The famous Greek choreographer and director revisits the myth of the Minotaur. Sculptural bodies, hybrids and fantastic creatures intermingle in a contemporary ballet that oscillates between the absurd, surrealism, and dreams. The history of European art is widely evoked. The successive paintings allude in turn to Greek ceramics and statuary, Sandro Botticelli’s paintings, Pablo Picasso’s inks, Salvador Dalí’s compositions and Jannis Kounellis’ installations. Presented in June at the Lyon Dance Biennial, this complete work of art will be on view in Paris in early September, before embarking on a world tour.
